I know, I’ve been quiet for a while.

Don’t worry. I’m fine. I’m healthy. I’m doing great.

But after I finally finished translating the Torah and turning it into a comedy podcast, a task that took over ten years, I decided to take a step back from this project and figure out how I wanted to move forward. Attentive listeners have heard the podcast evolve over the years, but OMGWTFBIBLE was never just a podcast. At the core of this project was my new translation of the Tanakh. The podcast was just how I got it to you. It made sense, especially for the Torah, which is traditionally read aloud in public. I may have moved away from public readings, but I made sure that the Torah was completed as an audio experience.

Now, though, I’m contemplating what comes next, both for myself and for this project. I do plan on finishing my translation of the Tanakh. When that will happen, I don’t know. But I intend to make it happen, eventually.

However, in the time since the last episode of the podcast, I’ve found myself beginning a whole lot of shorter projects (shorter than translating the entire Hebrew Bible, that is) that have nothing to do with OMGWTFBIBLE. Some of them are funny, some of them are related to Judaism, and some of them are completely different. My intention is to go the traditional route to publication. I hope you can see them someday. My Twitter account, which went dark in early 2022, will likely continue to stay silent, but if you’d like to follow my latest exploits, I will be sharing them on my Instagram account and periodically through my mailing list.

I titled this post “I’ll Be Back” for a reason. When we finish learning a tractate of the Talmud, we throw a party called a “siyum.” During the siyum, the Aramaic words “Hadran Alach” are read. Traditionally, this is translated as “we shall return”–meaning, that even while we finish a book, we promise to return to it. But you know me. I don’t like traditional translation. I prefer “I’ll be back.”

And I will. I might be focusing on other things for now, but I have some very concrete plans for OMGWTFBIBLE that I plan to announce later this year.
